Shenyang
had formed the outline of city and was named to be ¡°Houcheng¡±.

It
was renamed to be ¡°Shen Zhou¡±. |

921 A.D. |
The
first emperor of Liao State immigrated here. Production developed
with the construction of clay castle. |

Jin State |
The
first emperor of Jin State attacked and occupied Shen Zhou
and continued to use the name of ¡°Shen Zhou¡±. |

1296 |
Yuan
Dynasty rebuilt the clay castle and renamed Shen Zhou to Shenyang
Road, which is governed by Liaoyang. Since Shenyang is located
at the north of Shen Water (Liaohe River), Shen Zhou was renamed
to Shenyang according to Chinese traditional direction theory,
i.e. the north of hill was called Yin, the north of water
was called Yang. Since then, the name of Shenyang officially
occurred in the historical materials, which has a history
of 702 years up to now. |

Ming
Dynasty renamed ¡°Shenyang Road¡± to ¡°Shenyang Zhongwei¡±. |

1625 |
The
first emperor of Qing Dynasty Nurharchi moved its capital
from Liaoyang to Shenyang and started to construct imperial
palace in Shenyang town (the current Shenyang Palace Museum).

The
second emperor of Qing Dynasty Huangtaiji renamed Shenyang
to be ¡°Shengjing¡±. |

1644 |
After
Qing Dynasty moved its capital to Beijing, Shenyang became
its alternate capital. |

1657 |
Qing
Dynasty set up Fengtian government office in accordance with
the meaning of ¡°On the order of the heaven, receiving heaven's
mandate¡±, Shenyang was also known for ¡°Fengtian¡±. |

1911 |
After
the Revolution of 1911, Shenyang became the capital of Feng
system warlord government. |

1923 |
Fengtian
Municipal Administration Office was founded officially and
the municipal system appeared in Shenyang for the first time.

1929 |
After
¡°changing flag in the Northeast¡±, Zhang Xueliang changed ¡°Fengtian
city¡¯ to be ¡°Shenyang city¡±. |

1931 |
Japanese
imperialists launched ¡°9.18 Incident¡±, invaded and occupied
Shenyang city and changed ¡®Shenyang city¡± to be ¡°Fengtian
city¡±. |

The
anti-Japanese war succeeded, ¡°Fengtian city¡± was restored
to be ¡°Shenyang city¡± |

Shenyang
was officially liberated. |

Shenyang
was changed to be the municipality directly under the Central

Shenyang
was changed to be governed by Liaoning Province. |

Liaoning
Province Committee of the CPC decided to set up Shenyang prefecture.

Faku
County and Kangping County formerly under the jurisdiction
of Tieling City were transferred to Shenyang; Xinmin County
was replaced by Xinmin City. |

Shenyang
governs nine urban districts of Heping, Shenhe, Dadong, Huanggu,
Tiexi, Yuhong, Sujiatun, Dongling and Xingchengzi and four
counties (cities) of Xinmin, Liaozhong, Faku and Kangping.
