    Cultural undertaking is further prospered. Searching historical resources, carrying forward art of Tang’s Style, we elaborately arranged an elaborate evening gala of Tang’s Style Beijing opera—Liyuan Tang’s Style Opera; produced and rehearsed large-scale elaborate evening gala of Pingju Opera (local opera of north and northeast China)—Centennial Charm, integrating elite of artistic sect of “Han, Hua and Xiao”; elaborately produced modern drama Gentle Trojan Horse, which has become classical play of subject against corruption; re-rehearsed “Red Classics” Beijing opera The Red Lantern and Pingju Opera Guerilia of Honghu Lake; produced and performed children’s modern drama Inside and Outside Net Bar; successfully held Spring Festival Evening Gala Revitalizing Trend, Entertainment Evening Gala “Happy Tour Around China—Charming Shenyang·Vigorous City ”, subject activity commemorating victory of war of resistance against aggression, that is the 60th anniversary of victory of World War of Anti-Fascism—Narration of Northeastern China, and other large cultural activities, totaling 17 items.

    We’ve held 514 cultural square activities of city and district levels and 3107 cultural square activities of primary-level, involving mass of 5490000 person-times under participation. There are 2 art galleries, 4 museums, 2 public libraries and 5 specialized art show groups, as well as a broadcast station and a TV station of city level. In 2006 the main halls and supporting engineering of International Horticultural Exposition have been completely finished.

    Foreign cultural exchanges have been more and more active and introduced 3 large-scale foreign-related cultural activities, 5 foreign performance groups and organized 15 performance groups for going abroad.

    There are 635 health agencies (excluding clinics, health station, infirmary and village health organizations) including 196 hospitals, 121 health centers, 30 community health service centers, 18 disease prevention and control centers (epidemic prevention station), 15 women and children health agencies, 24 special disease control agencies, 13 health supervision institutes. By the end of year, there are 34033 sickbeds, 45680 different health personnel including 17346 practicing doctors, 1909 practicing assistant doctors and 16887 registered nurses. Shenyang firstly popularizes new-type country cooperative medical treatment in national sub-provincial cities.

    Mass sports are developed deeply. Our city’s sports population is near 3.5 million accounting for 48.6% of registered population of the whole city. 92.12% of the studying students reach the standards stipulated in Student Physical Health Standard and 27.06% of them are excellent. We strengthens community body building facilities construction and sets up 3812 fitness apparatus for 468 communities, the popularity rate of fitness apparatus for certain communities is up to 100% if conditions is permitted. By the end of year, there are 1124 civil body building activities places. Our city sold sports lottery up to RMB 310 million yuan and commonweal input is RMB 26.97 million yuan.
